Fire Sprinkler System Law

Legislation for Fire Sprinklers

Fire Sprinklers & The Law

New and existing legislation is in place regarding the installation of fire sprinklers in the UK. In Wales, from October 2013, all new homes require a fire sprinkler system installed as part of the build.

As a result of our extensive experience in the fire protection industry we are able to offer honest advice as to your requirements and will guide you through the installation of your fire sprinkler system.

Local Acts for Fire Sprinklers in the UK

Certain local authorities in the UK require buildings over 7000 metres-squared to install fire protection measures including sprinkler systems. This is particularly important in buildings of multi-occupancy where there is an increased risk of fire.

Fire Sprinkler Legislation in Scotland

The installation of fire sprinkler systems is increasing in the UK. Scotland have made it compulsory for sprinklers to be fitted in buildings above 18m, all schools, care homes and sheltered accommodation.

Fire Sprinkler Legislation in Wales

In 2013 Wales changed their legislation by requiring the installation of sprinklers in all new houses and flats from January 2016 and all new high risk properties which include care homes, student halls of residence, boarding houses and certain hostels as of April 2014. This indicates the effectiveness of a sprinkler system.

Fire sprinklers are essential for new builds as a result of this legislation. If you are building a property contact us today for professional advice and a free quote.
